چکیده

Conventional centroid estimation fits a template point spread function (PSF) to image data. Because the PSF is typically not known to high accuracy, systematic errors exist. Here, we present an accurate centroid displacement estimation algorithm by reconstructing the PSF from Nyquist-sampled images. In absence of inter-pixel response variations, this method can estimate centroid displacement between two 32× 32 images to sub-micropixel accuracy. Inter-pixel response variations can be calibrated in Fourier space by using laser metrology. The inter-pixel variations of Fourier transforms of the pixel response functions can be conveniently expressed in terms of powers of spatial wavenumbers. Calibrating up to the third-order terms in the expansion, the displacement estimation is accurate to a few micro-pixels. This algorithm is applicable to a new mission concept of performing mirco-arcsecond level relative astrometry using a 1m telescope for detecting terrestrial exoplanets and high-precision photometry missions.

Introduction: The position estimation in gamma detection system will have constant misplacements which can be corrected in the calibration procedure. In the pixelated crystal uniformly irradiation of detector will produce irregular shape due to position estimation errors. This image is called flood field image and is used to calibrate the position estimation. In this work we pr...

The Photometry of Undersampled Point Spread Functions

An undersampled point spread function may interact with the microstructure of a solid-state detector such that the total flux detected can depend sensitively on where the PSF center falls within a pixel. Such intra-pixel sensitivity variations will not be corrected by flat field calibration and may limit the accuracy of stellar photometry conducted with undersampled images, as are typical for H...

A Novel Multi-Aperture Based Sun Sensor Based on a Fast Multi-Point MEANSHIFT (FMMS) Algorithm

With the current increased widespread interest in the development and applications of micro/nanosatellites, it was found that we needed to design a small high accuracy satellite attitude determination system, because the star trackers widely used in large satellites are large and heavy, and therefore not suitable for installation on micro/nanosatellites. A Sun sensor + magnetometer is proven to...

SSC09-V-3 Calibration Techniques for Low-Cost Star Trackers

This study presents a series of cost-e ective strategies for calibrating star trackers for microsatellite missions. We examine three such strategies that focus on the calibration of the imaging detector, geometric lab calibration, and optical calibration due to lens aberrations. Procedures are developed that emphasize speed of implementation, and accuracy, while trying to minimize manual setup ...

Real Time Calibration of Strap-down Three-Axis-Magnetometer for Attitude Estimation

Three-axis-magnetometers (TAMs) are widely utilized as a key component of attitude determination subsystems and as such are considered the corner stone of navigation for low Earth orbiting (LEO) space systems. Precise geomagnetic-based navigation demands accurate calibration of the magnetometers. In this regard, a complete online calibration process of TAM is developed in the current research t...
